Hillside Cottage, Stanhope, County Durham

This former 18th Century miner's cottage is situated in the small village of Ireshopeburn, situated between Alston and Stanhope within an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' in a little known corner of the Northern Pennine Hills-Weardale. It is a cosy cottage which retains many of its original features.
This area is a haven for walkers, bird watchers, anglers, cyclists and any country lovers. Set in a perfect location for a 'get away from it all' holiday or short break. Built into the fell side, the stairs take you to a rear seating area, an ideal suntrap.
Walk into the village, stroll the quiet lanes, or mountain bike on some of the most challenging surrounding moorland tracks of the Northern Dales.
The magnificence of the Wear Valley environment is nationally recognised, with much of the area lying in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Once the hunting grounds for the Prince Bishops of Durham, the district is considered by many to be the most attractive of the Durham Dales and it provides a spectacular setting and backdrop for a range of outdoor pursuits including walking and cycling which remain the most popular.
