Butterwell Barn is situated off the beaten track, at the northern edge of Bodmin Moor.

The tors and open spaces of Bodmin Moor are on the doorstep while the nearest town, Camelford, is 3 miles away. 

Coastal villages such as Tintagel and Boscastle are 6 miles away, and beaches such as Trebarwith Strand and Crackington Haven are only 7 miles. 

The Barn is an excellent base away from the tourist circuit for walking, swimming, surfing, cycling, and watching wildlife.

The large, lawned garden has chairs, a swing, a hammock in summer, a washing line, wild flowers and tall trees. A bird feeder attracts many small birds into the garden. There is ample parking space near the front door. One can walk directly onto moorland from the cattlegrid at the entrance.
