The George Inn, Croscombe, Wells, Somerset
The George Inn is a 17th century family owned free house located in the scenic village of Croscombe near Wells in Somerset.
The pub has enjoyed numerous changes over the years both small and large. In the main bar a large inglenook fireplace with real log fires warms the winter nights, and soft lighting, the family's grandfather clock, and our comfy chairs add to the ambience of the area.
The areas on both sides of the bar were enlarged to include the former tack room, stables, and old beer cellar. In the Old Tack Room, we've provided a carpeted dining, function and family room. We renovated the Old Stables to make new toilets for men, ladies and the disabled, with baby changing facilities. The pub garden is fully wheelchair accessible too.
The renovated Old Beer Cellar provides the setting for a comfortable 30 seat restaurant. For diners, we insist on a total commitment to quality food prepared from the best local fresh ingredients cooked to order. All our food is home-made, including the puddings and luscious ice creams.
The menu has expanded since July 2001 when we first began serving food at the pub. Now organic, vegetarian, game and fresh fish specials complement the regular menu. Special needs are catered for, and individually tailored menus can always be worked out for functions or special events.
