We are at Burley Gate, just off a quiet lane midway between the cathedral city of Hereford and Bromyard, in the heart of rural Herefordshire. Distant views of the Welsh mountains may be enjoyed from the upstairs windows of the Lodge.
The area has many attractions nearby, including the fascinating ‘black and white’ villages, the world-famous Mappa Mundi, the Wye Valley, and many gardens and properties open to the public. Excellent walking country can be found both locally among the famous cider apple orchards, and on the Offa’s Dyke Long Distance Path along the Herefordshire and Welsh borders.
The renowned theatre at Stratford-on-Avon is within easy reach, as are the acclaimed arts, poetry, music, food, jazz and photography festivals held annually at nearby Hay-on-Wye, Ledbury, Malvern, Ludlow, Brecon and Hereford. Sporting activities of all kinds are close at hand, from canoeing on the River Wye to racing at Hereford, Ludlow and Cheltenham.
