“Alice Cottage” has a particularly sunny and open aspect, and has been family owned for five generations. The owner lives nearby for ease of key holding, maintenance etc.
With only a two minute walk to the beach, children will enjoy exploring the rock pools for crabs and other sea life while adults may like to walk to Ravenscar and search for fossils.
The Bay is surrounded by moorland and fields on three sides and the sea on the other.
Over the centuries ‘Bay’ has seen many a shipwreck in the wild seas and it is easy to imagine smugglers hurrying between houses at the dead of night carrying their contraband and disappearing down the tunnels that ran under the cottages. Tales of run-ins with excise men are well documented in local books and visitors will have fun exploring the narrow, winding alleyways.
