Intake Cottage, Swaledale, North Yorkshire
Swaledale has a lush green valley, patchwork fields and a fresh-water river making it an ideal location for walking, cycling, sightseeing, trout fishing, painting or just plain relaxing!
Located just 1 mile west of Low Row and 5 miles West of the village of Reeth, Intake Cottage has the advantages of being situated in a unique spot; both close to the tranquillity of the River Swale and not too far from the local amenities.
Many of the local walks and mountain-bike routes start literally at your doorstep, several of which are depicted in guidebooks at the cottage. Just over the "Buttertubs Pass" into Wensleydale you will find the market town of Hawes, where the famous Wensleydale Cheese is made.

In the other direction you will find the Georgian market town of Richmond, and the Castle at Barnard Castle. Also close by is Bowes Museum which is an international venue for art exhibitions and has numerous different ones throughout the year. There are many local pubs and restaurants serving a variety of excellent Yorkshire specialities along with more contemporary foods. But if peace and quiet is what you are looking for, then you probably don't need to move from Intake Cottage itself!
