An 18th Century Pub With Countryside Views

The Star and Garter offers charming accommodation in the pretty village of East Dean. From the front of this 18th-century pub, you can enjoy delightful views of grazing cattle on the downs and distant hills. Located near Goodwood in West Sussex, lots of wonderful walking routes are right on our doorstep.

The building’s history is interlinked with the surrounding landscape, built from classic Sussex flint. Many of the gorgeous oak features inside are from trees felled in the local area 300 hundred years ago.

There are 3 spacious, comfortable and beautifully furnished rooms available. Each room boasts a distinctive character and enjoys magnificent views of the countryside. All the rooms have a superb king-size bed, en suite facilities, Freeview TV, high-quality linen, tea and coffee making facilities and luxurious New Forest aromatics.

The pub offers delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner menus to tantalise your taste buds. You can start the day with a full English or smashed avocado and poached eggs to set you up for the day ahead. After a day sightseeing, you can enjoy our extensive dinner menu which includes delights such as butcher’s cut steak or calf’s liver.

While staying at The Star & Garter, you can visit lots of great attractions in the local area, such as Tinwood Estate, Weald and Downland Living Museum, Cowdray Park, Bignor Roman Villa & Goodwood Golf.
