Dog-Friendly Holiday!
Laverock Hall Holiday Cottages is an ideal destination for those looking to bring their dogs along on holiday. Located on a private farm in the picturesque Teesdale countryside near Barnard Castle, County Durham, this property offers the perfect retreat for dog lovers. Nestled within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), a UNESCO Global Geopark, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), guests can enjoy breathtaking landscapes while their dogs have ample space to roam.
Designed with dog owners in mind, the cottages and outdoor areas offer numerous amenities for canine companions. Guests can participate in farm life and make use of enclosed gardens with minimum 4-foot-high fences or walls, a 120-foot indoor agility arena for year-round use, a 5-acre stock-fenced dog playfield, and a 35-square-metre deer-fenced play paddock—ensuring that dogs have safe areas to run free.
The property features two cosy cottages, each accommodating up to four people with the option of a sofa bed for an additional guest. Guests are welcome to bring up to four dogs per cottage at no extra charge, with additional dogs permitted for just £25 per dog per week. Each cottage includes an open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area, equipped with a full-size oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave, and all essentials. The lounge features a wood-burning stove, perfect for cosy evenings, along with a TV, books, and DVDs. Both cottages offer one double and one twin bedroom, with a modern bathroom that includes a bath and a separate shower. The lounge’s sofa can be converted into a bed for extra guests.
Sheep Haven Cottage is a single-storey property with exposed beams and partial disabled access, while Laverock Lodge is a two-storey cottage featuring stunning views from the upstairs bedrooms, which are located in the original hayloft. A handmade wooden stair gate ensures that dogs stay downstairs.
For canine guests, special facilities ensure their comfort. Each cottage has a dedicated dog shower room to clean muddy paws after walks, as well as a grooming table and professional dog dryer. The cottages feature durable, dog-friendly tiles and rugs, with crates available upon request. Well-behaved dogs can be left in the dog shower rooms if owners wish to venture out.
Though fixed broadband is unavailable due to the rural location, each cottage is equipped with a 4G mobile Wi-Fi box for convenience. A washing machine and tumble dryer are also available for a small charge, and guests with dogs on a BARF diet can request an extra mobile chest freezer.
Both cottages can be hired together, accommodating up to ten guests. The farm itself is home to around 120 sheep, as well as hens, ducks, geese, goats, and horses. Wildlife such as rabbits, pheasants, and a family of wild Red Kites also frequent the area. With stunning views of Cumbria and Yorkshire, Laverock Hall is a paradise for dog lovers, offering an escape into nature’s beauty.
