The George Inn, a charming 17th-century family-owned free house, is located in the picturesque village of Croscombe, near Wells in Somerset. Known for exceptional pub fare, The George Inn offers a delightful mix of traditional and contemporary British cuisine. Alongside classic pub dishes, the menu includes regularly changing specials, crafted from scratch with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Guests can choose from various dining areas: the cosy snug with seating for 10, the restaurant for up to 25, the old tack room for 20, and the main bar accommodating 40. During winter, the bar’s open fire and the snug’s wood-burning stove create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The George Inn provides comfortable en-suite accommodations, each with a shower, free Wi-Fi, a TV, and tea-making facilities. The Loft room offers flexibility as either a twin or double, the Canada room is a spacious double with a bath, the Poppy room is a cosy double, and the Woods room is a comfortable single.
Each morning, guests can enjoy a tailored breakfast experience, from a takeaway sandwich to a full English, with vegetarian and dietary options available. The private garden is an ideal spot for enjoying a morning tea or coffee and soaking up the sunshine.
At the bar, guests can sample two real ales, including the exclusive “King George The Thirst” and “George and the Dragon,” brewed by Blindman’s Brewery in Leighton using Mendip spring water, Warminster malt, and Canadian Chinook hops. These house favourites are accompanied by a rotating selection of guest ales from local and national breweries like Butcombe, Bath Ales, and St Austell. Additionally, there are four or more local ciders, as well as a wide variety of other beverages.
