Camping at Ynysfaen, Cwmwysg, Trecastle, Powys
Visitors can wake up to the gentle sounds of the River Usk or the soft clucking of free-roaming chickens, creating an authentic rural experience. The site offers spacious camping and campervan pitches, with plenty of room to choose a perfect spot. Whether guests prefer to set up near the peaceful riverbank or in a quieter area at the far end of the field, there is ample space for everyone. The owners take pride in maintaining a relaxed and uncrowded environment, prioritising quality over quantity. Picnic benches are available for shared use, and guests are encouraged to pitch considerately. Please note that electric hook-ups are only available on designated campervan and tent pitches, and the shower block does not include plug sockets for charging or electrical items.
For guests seeking a touch of comfort, the hand-crafted Shepherd’s Hut provides charming glamping accommodation. Inside, there is a fully enclosed kitchen equipped with a three-hob gas burner, small fridge, running water, and all essential crockery and utensils. A wood burner keeps the space warm during cooler months, while outside, a table and chairs provide the perfect spot to enjoy a quiet coffee in the afternoon sun.
The Ynysfaen Cabin offers a more substantial accommodation option, combining rustic style with modern convenience. This one-bedroom cabin includes private facilities such as a shower, toilet, sink, and heated towel rail, with towels provided. The fully equipped kitchenette features a two-plate electric hob, microwave, kettle, and utensils, along with complimentary tea, coffee, and sugar. The bedroom includes a made-up double bed, clothes storage, and an electric radiator for cooler evenings, while the living area has a double sofa bed, electric log burner, and ample space for up to four guests, making it ideal for families or close friends.
Outside, guests can enjoy a private decking area complete with a fire pit and BBQ, as well as a storage shed for bikes or additional gear. The cabin operates on an electricity payment meter with £5 of daily credit included, typically enough for standard usage, with the option to top up via a £1 coin meter if required.
