Homeleigh Country Cottages, Whitland, Pembrokeshire
Welcoming guests since 1997, Homeleigh Country Cottages have been carefully planned around the needs and comfort of wheelchair users, carers and guests who may require additional assistance during their stay. The complex is wheelchair friendly, with level entry and extra-wide doors, no steps and smooth tarmac or concrete surfaces outside.
Each cottage has an accessible wet room and non-slip flooring, while parking is available close to the accommodation. A range of specialist equipment and mobility aids can also be provided, helping guests to travel without having to bring everything from home.
Available aids include shower chairs, walking frames, toilet seat raisers and frames, cot sides and grab handles. Hoists, stand-aid hoists, air mattresses and turning platforms can also be hired for a small additional charge. Guests requiring particular equipment are encouraged to reserve it when booking.
There are six cottages to choose from, offering accommodation for couples, families and larger groups. Mefysen is a spacious four-bedroom cottage with two wheelchair-accessible ground-floor bedrooms, an accessible wet room and a further two bedrooms and shower room upstairs. Both downstairs bedrooms have electrically operated beds.
Gwyddfid has three bedrooms, including a wheelchair-accessible twin bedroom downstairs with an electrically operated bed. There is also an accessible wet room, spacious open-plan living area and two additional bedrooms upstairs.
Briallen is a detached bungalow with three wheelchair-accessible bedrooms, an accessible wet room and a spacious open-plan kitchen and living area. Celyn is an attached bungalow with two wheelchair-accessible twin bedrooms, while Lavant has a single and twin bedroom suitable for wheelchair users. These cottages also offer electrically operated beds and riser recliner chairs.
For couples, Rhosmelyn provides a cosy bungalow for two with an accessible wet room, open-plan kitchen and living area and two single electric beds with adjustable head and foot sections.
All of the cottages are comfortably furnished and include central heating, cooking facilities, a microwave and fridge. Freeview TV, DVD facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi are also provided, with utilities and bed linen included. Guests additionally have access to a visitor laundry which is open daily.
