Swanage is where the land stops and the sea and the
sky begin. It is a place to cross over and a place to step back in time. It
owes its existence to its beach and to the white heat of the Victorian
technological revolution. It is a child of the Victorian railway age and it
remains true to its parents.
Ours is a town centre which has not been
redeveloped. The phrase "time warp" is often used to describe the
place and clocks definitely need to be adjusted to Swanage time. If all these
actvities sound a little too exhausting why not simply sit by the quay and
enjoy a plate of oysters and a glass of wine.
