Clock Tower, Matfield, Tonbridge, Kent
Clock Tower in Matfield, Tonbridge, in Kent, provides magnificent self catering accommodation in a truly unique property. Situated on the northern edge of the courtyard at Matfield House, the Clock Tower was originally built in 1728 and now provides tranquil and luxurious accommodation.
The recently converted Grade I listed holiday home has been elegantly decorated and provides the ultimate in comfort. The Clock Tower was originally built in 1728 and still retains many original features whilst offering modern day comforts. There is still the original manger in what is now the dining room, original metal framed windows, part of the old stable floor and many interesting beams and, of course, the clock (although this has yet to be renovated to make the movement work).
Fine food can be had in the village of Matfield at The Poet, with traditional pub fare at The Star and home made pizzas at The Hopbine just a mile away. Several lovely country inns are known for their real ales especially The Halfway House 2 miles away at Brenchley (traditionally a coaching inn half way between Rye and London).
