Do Something Different This Winter
Do Something Different This Winter
Are you stuck in a rut and looking for a new adventure? Do
you want to start the New Year doing something a bit different? Take a look at
our list of unique winter activity ideas.
1. Sleep in a snowhole.
If you are feeling very energetic, how about a hike in the
Cairngorms? This trip takes a group of travellers on a five hour hike before
you dig a hole big enough to hold you all. Spend the night in your cosy cavern,
wrapped up in a sleeping bag before waking up to glorious views of the
Cairngorms National Park.
2. Dare to take a dip in Derry.
Walk the Port Path between PortStewart and Portrush in
County Derry, Northern Ireland this winter. This 6.5 mile trail follows
stunning coastline with breathtaking views. If you are brave enough you can
take a very refreshing dip in a natural swimming cove called Portnahapple,
which will quite literally take your breath away!
3. Take a hike in Wales.
Challenge yourself with a hike to the summit of Pen-Y-Fan in
the Brecon Beacons. There are multiple routes you can choose from to reach the
dizzy heights of this amazing mountain range. With such varied landscapes you
will encounter Neolithic stone circles, rivers, waterfalls and Norman Castles
along the way.
4. Surf the English coast.
When the Artic and Atlantic low-pressure systems build up
during winter, the English coast boasts some serious waves. Surfers flock to
Devon and Cornwall where the wild waves are perfect for rides and tricks.
Croyde Bay is a popular destination, where beginners can learn to surf too.
5. Climb a tree!
Appley Park on the Isle of Wight is the place to go if you
love climbing trees. Clip on your harness, pop on your safety helmet and scale
trees up to 22 metres high. Young and old alike can have a go, age isn’t an
issue, so the big kid in you can climb as much as you like! Compete with your
friends and family, who will make it to the top first? A fun day out with a
difference.
