Dent Station is England’s highest mainline station and has undergone comprehensive restoration and refurbishment. It is the perfect location for those who want a get away from it all break. Our accommodation is close to Cowgill and just a short drive to Sedbergh in North Yorkshire. From the station and our snow huts, you can enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. 

Dent Station: Sleeping up to 6 people, this Grade II Listed station is perfect for family breaks away. It is situated within an acre of land and runs parallel with the Settle to Carlisle line. The station has 125 years of famous railway history, which can be seen throughout the cottage. This provides a cosy and unique place to stay, whilst still including the modern amenities you require in a holiday home. 

Snow Hut One: A remote structure with over 125 years of history. It was built in 1885 as a line side shelter for railway workers and has been restored as a comfortable, open plan holiday home. 

Snow Hut Three: This is the smaller of our two snow huts and has appeared on BBC and Channel 4. An ideal retreat for couples or solo travellers and it has been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay is had by all. 

Dent Station and the snow huts have a great railway history, with many historians and railway enthusiasts being familiar with the history and evolution of the Settle and Carlisle Railway. Apart from being Britain’s highest mainline station, it is unusual in that it is situated four miles away and 600 feet higher than the actual village of Dent. Whilst Dent Station is arguably a very remote location, accessibility to the surrounding towns and via the Settle to Carlisle railway line both north and south are excellent.
