The Highwayman Inn is quoted as being ‘the most unusual pub in Britain.’ Our pub in Okehampton is the perfect place to stay for a magical and romantic holiday in this gorgeous part of Devon. 

Our inn is truly special and unique, described as an Aladdin’s cave of eclectic artefacts and curiosities. We have 3 double rooms which are romantic four poster en suites. The rooms are beautifully furnished, individual styled and some come with stunning four poster beds. Cobweb Hall, a quaint picturesque cottage, is opposite the inn and is available for short-breaks and has two four poster en suite rooms which are reached by spiral staircases. 

While enjoying a drink or two you can take a journey in the realms of fantasy. The bars come with gothic arches, a wooden door from a whaler, a serpent and a variety of antiques. The Rita Jones Locker bar has a natural piece of wood which is designed as a large dragon/serpent which was dragged from a bog on Dartmoor. The Locker bar has been fashioned to look like an old wooden galleon. Steps from the lounge bar lead to the hideaway.

Both The Highwayman Inn and Cobweb Hall are situated on Dartmoor National Park at the base of the legendary Sourton Tor with its mystical stories. There are some amazing walks nearby which include unusual stone circles and ancient magical forests with dwarfed oaks.

Also the village church with its labyrinth is a gateway onto the Two Castle Way which is a very beautiful walk and the popular safe Sustrans cycle path is nearby. You can join route 27 in the village which starts from the North Devon coast at Ilfracombe and ends in Plymouth on the south coast.
