1. Barafundle Bay Beach, Pembrokeshire. Beautiful Barafundle Bay was once one of Pembrokeshire’s best-kept secrets. The locals knew this crescent-shaped golden beach of deep, soft sand and told no-one. It was their jealously guarded piece of recreational paradise, facing east like the eye of Stackpole Warren whose long nose is Stackpole Head and its prominent chin Saddle Point.
2. Watergate Bay, Cornwall. This gorgeous beach is a two-mile stretch of golden sand beneath the towering cliffs of Newquay. The beach is popular with surfers and kite flyers thanks to the swells from the Atlantic Ocean and non-surfers will have an equally good time splashing in the waves.
3. Woolacombe Beach, Devon. Woolacombe is one of the finest beaches in the West Country and it is easy to see why it has won numerous awards. It’s a big favourite with families and surfers attracting thousands of people each summer to the beach and Woolacombe village.
4. Rhossili Bay, Glamorgan. Rhossili Bay lies at the western end of the beautiful Gower Peninsula. Enjoy 3 miles of golden sands, iconic landscapes including Worms Head and Rhossili Down and history everywhere. It's a walker's dream with routes in all directions, including the Welsh Coastal Path.
5. Hengistbury Head, Dorset. This dramatic Bournemouth beach is a mixture of sand and shingle beneath a 30-metre cliff that towers above and protects the beach from the winds. It’s a quiet beach perfect for walking, relaxing and simply inhaling that fresh sea air.
6. Bamburgh Castle Beach, Northumberland. This beautifully long sandy beach is popular with families, making it a traditional seaside holiday destination. What really makes Bamburgh Beach stand out is the breathtaking castle dominating the skyline behind the beach. A castle is known to have stood here since the 6th century; the oldest part of the present structure was built in the 12th century.
7. Abersoch Beach, Gwynedd. The delightful seaside resort of Abersoch is a haven for sailing enthusiasts looking for a wide choice of watersports set in a family environment. A large, sandy beach ideal for building sandcastles, Abersoch retains its traditional charm whilst offering modern facilities.
8. Camber Sands Beach, East Sussex. Camber Sands is a little unusual for a Sussex beach and the reason is in the name. Yes, sands! Unlike most beaches along the Sussex coast which are lined with pebbles and shingle held in place by a series of groynes, Camber Sands is covered in fine, golden sand. Not only that but Camber is home to the only sand dunes in East Sussex.
9. Botany Bay, Kent. One of our most photographed bays, Botany Bay is famous. This hidden gem offers stunning views of white cliffs and beautiful chalk stacks. When the tide is out, Botany bay is a great location for fossil hunting and exploring rock pools. There is plenty of exposed sand to enjoy when the tide is in, but due to the bay's shape the ends are cut off at high tide.
10. Compton Bay, Isle of Wight. One of the Isle of Wight’s best-kept secrets is Compton Beach. Located in West Wight, Compton offers a two-mile stretch of contrasting golden and dark sands, with rolling seas, tumbling multi-coloured sandstone cliffs, and the white chalk cliffs at Freshwater in the distance.
