Alice Cottage has a particularly sunny and open aspect and has been family owned for five generations. The owner lives nearby for ease of key holding, maintenance etc.
With only a two minute walk to the beach, children will enjoy exploring the rock pools for crabs and other sea life while adults may like to walk to Ravenscar and search for fossils.
There is space outside to sit in the sun on the south facing the cobbled street and garden chairs are provided. Stairs lead up to the first floor lounge with picturesque views over the Bay. This room contains a flat screen TV, DVD player and comfortable furniture and there is a 4ft double bed in an alcove. Also on this floor is the bathroom with bath, low-level WC and electric shower over the bath.
The Bay is surrounded by moorland and fields on three sides and the sea on the other. Over the centuries ‘Bay’ has seen many a shipwreck in the wild seas and it is easy to imagine smugglers hurrying between houses at the dead of night carrying their contraband and disappearing down the tunnels that ran under the cottages. Tales of run-ins with excise men are well documented in local books and visitors will have fun exploring the narrow, winding alleyways.
There are many walks and outstanding views to enjoy, and with much of the coastline now managed and owned by the National Trust and is within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it is one of the most beautiful areas of England.
