A Charming B&B in a Historic Country Village!
The Old Post Office offers luxurious accommodation in the centre of Lanchester, a charming village in County Durham. We are less than a 20-minute drive to the city of Durham and a fantastic base from which to explore this lovely corner of England.
Our unique bed and breakfast is a Grade II Listed building that was once the post office for this pretty English village. It was built in 1788 and has been beautifully refurbished to offer fabulous accommodation. We have a choice of 3 rooms, all of which have been elegantly decorated and furnished, in keeping with the history of the building.
Guests can relax and unwind in the lounge. This is a lovely space for reading a good book over a cup of coffee or playing one of the wide selection of board games.
Breakfast is cooked fresh to order, with our emphasis on providing guests with fresh, local, seasonal produce. We also have a brood of free-range hens which lay eggs for your breakfast. Food plays an important role at The Old Post Office and we try to provide a varied choice for our guests.
The Old Post Office Bed & Breakfast is in the small, thriving country village of Lanchester that has a history going back to 140 A.D. Lanchester lies in the Vale of Durham with easy access to many visitor attractions as well as having a range of restaurants and access to designated walking routes.
