Nestled on a family-run farm just outside Port Ellen on the picturesque Isle of Islay, Ballivicar Farm Cottages offer three rural self-catering holiday homes, providing the perfect escape to the countryside. Situated in an idyllic location, guests can enjoy the peaceful surroundings while being just a short journey away from the rest of Argyll, Bute, and The Islands.
Each cottage offers its own unique charm and comfort:
- The Chougherie: Featuring three bedrooms (2 double bedrooms and one twin), a spacious lounge/living area, open-plan kitchen, and separate bathroom.
- The Hayloft: Offering one bedroom with twin beds, a large living area, open-plan kitchen, and en suite bathroom.
- The Bothy (unavailable in 2024): With one bedroom (twin beds), a living area, open-plan kitchen, and en suite bathroom. Extra beds are available in The Chougherie and The Hayloft by arrangement.
Conveniently located just a 15-minute drive from the island's main ferry port, airport, and only golf course, guests at Ballivicar Farm Cottages can easily explore the many attractions and places of interest on Islay. From undisturbed beaches to working distilleries, the island offers something for everyone.
Nature enthusiasts will delight in the abundance of wildlife surrounding the farm, with owls nesting in the farm buildings, swallows and bats flitting about, and an array of other creatures, including pheasants, hares, roe deer, rabbits, buzzards, hen harriers, and peregrines. During the winter months, guests can observe geese, Greenland white-fronts, and barnacles in large numbers.
History buffs will appreciate the rich history of Islay, with iron-age forts, standing stones, deserted townships, and Celtic crosses all within easy reach.
