Mil Bothy stands above a charming cove in Quidinish, commanding serene vistas of Loch Finsbay along the eastern shore of the Isle of Harris. Nestled in seclusion, it offers awe-inspiring sea views, tranquillity, and abundant nature and wildlife, making it an idyllic retreat for two.
Positioned perfectly on the picturesque Bays of Harris coastline, Mil Bothy invites guests to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings. From the doorstep, one can observe local wildlife, embark on scenic walks, or explore the island by bicycle. The cottage's remote setting and cosy ambience provide a serene sanctuary for those seeking to reconnect with nature.
The interior of the cottage features an open-plan living room and kitchen, offering expansive views of the sea and the surrounding landscape. The lounge/dining area boasts comfortable armchairs and settees, adorned with Harris Tweed curtains crafted by Donald John Mackay, a recent MBE honouree recognised for his contributions to reviving the Harris Tweed industry.
Upon request, guests can enjoy a table tennis table for entertainment. Other amenities include a TV, DVD player, radio, and Wi-Fi.
The kitchen is well-appointed for culinary adventures, equipped with gas cooking facilities, a large fridge-freezer, and spacious walnut worktops doubling as a breakfast bar. A sizable walk-in pantry and utility area with a washing machine and microwave are also provided. Guests are encouraged to utilise the supplied cooking essentials such as oil, condiments, and spices, replenishing as needed.
Warmth and comfort are assured with an eco-friendly, glass-fronted pellet-burning stove situated in the lounge.
The double bedroom offers a king-size bed, ample wardrobe space, and a selection of books for bedtime reading. Linens, towels, bathrobes, and complimentary toiletries are all included. The bathroom features both a walk-in shower and a full-length bath.
Mobile phone reception is reasonable, with optimal network coverage from Vodafone and EE.
From its vantage point, the cottage affords panoramic views across the Minch to the Cuillins on Skye in the southeast, and to the South Uist hills in the south-southwest. Whether the sea is calm or turbulent, the vistas are truly spectacular.
Remote yet accessible, Mil Bothy is located just 100 yards beyond the main house and 400 yards off the Quidinish road. A south-facing patio provides a perfect spot to relax and unwind, leaving the world behind.
