Farm Cottages!
Werngochlyn Farm, dating back to the 12th century, provides excellent accommodation just 3 miles from the historic market town of Abergavenny. The farm, nestled in the midst of stunning countryside with Skirrid Mountain as a scenic backdrop, gained fame as a location in the last series of Netflix's "Sex Education." Guests can enjoy the added bonuses of Dark Skies and abundant birdlife.
The farm features four cottages set around the farmyard, offering a perfect retreat for relaxation. These cottages, accommodating between 4 to 6 guests, are beautifully converted from old stone farm buildings, retaining charming features like stone walls and open beams. The idyllic setting includes an open stream flowing into a duck pond, footpaths starting right at the doorstep, and a picnic area among the trees. Each cottage has cosy living/dining areas, well-equipped kitchens, and comfortable bedrooms, with parking conveniently located right outside. There is also ample green space for outdoor activities and BBQs.
Granary Cottage (sleeps 6) offers a double room and two twin-bedded rooms, along with a separate bathroom and shower room. The spacious sitting room/dining area features a log-burning stove. This is the largest of the cottages and is ideal for families, offering an enclosed garden.
Stable, Cowshed, and Dairy Cottages are arranged in a line, opening onto a shared communal garden with benches and chairs for outdoor seating.
- Stable Cottage (sleeps 5) includes a double and a triple bedroom, a bathroom with an electric power shower over the bath, and a kitchen leading from the sitting/dining room.
- Cowshed Cottage (sleeps 4), situated in the middle, features bunk beds in the second bedroom. It is the smallest of the cottages, designed for accessibility with a ramp to the front door and mostly level interiors, and includes a power shower over the bath and a kitchen off the living area.
- Dairy Cottage (sleeps 4) is the first cottage encountered upon arrival, notable for its distinctive arched windows, which once housed a bull. It offers a double room and a twin-bedded room, an electric shower over the bath, and a modern, integrated kitchen opening into a bright living area with a log-burning stove and exposed beams.
Guests can enjoy a variety of on-site amenities, including an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, a games room with pool and ping pong, a play area for younger children, and a shared laundry room. The farm's livery yard hosts many horses and ponies, alongside sheep, a goat, chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats.
Werngochlyn Farm is an ideal base for exploring the local area, with footpaths directly accessible from the farm. An 18-hole golf course and driving range are only half a mile away. The nearby attractions include the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains, castles, canals, rivers, mountains, Big Pit, waterfalls, climbing centres, bike parks, vineyards, farm parks, wild swimming spots, art galleries, and more. For dining, there are excellent local options, including a Michelin-starred restaurant within walking distance across the fields.
The town of Abergavenny offers a range of activities and attractions, including unique shops, a market, a castle, a museum, a cinema, a theatre, and much more, making Werngochlyn Farm an excellent choice for a countryside getaway.
