Ocean Backpackers is an award-winning hostel located in Ilfracombe, North Devon, close to the picturesque fishing harbour. This hostel is ideal for walkers, surfers, cyclists, and divers, as well as families, schools, and activity groups.
Welcoming groups of all sizes and travellers of any age who enjoy the lively atmosphere of a backpackers' hostel and have a passion for the great outdoors, Ocean Backpackers offers a variety of accommodations:
- Dorm Rooms: Two 5-bed dorms en suite and one 8-bed dorm with a shared shower, all featuring USB ports, reading lamps, and privacy screens.
- Double Rooms: Two doubles, one en suite, both with sea views.
- Family Rooms: Three family rooms, each sleeping four, with one en suite. Two additional family rooms each sleep five and are en suite.
- Single Room: One single room is available.
All bedrooms come with bedding provided.
The hostel also features a communal area with seating for up to 24 people, complete with built-in power sockets and USB chargers. Additionally, a top-floor apartment can be rented as a self-contained flat, including a private kitchen. The large communal kitchen seats 6-8, and there is a communal lounge and dining area that seats 24 for guests to unwind.
Facilities at Ocean Backpackers include free tea and coffee, a smart TV, a boot/coat drying room, and a range of games and books. Outside, there is a seating area for relaxation.
Ilfracombe marks the beginning of the Route 27 Coast-to-Coast ride to Plymouth, and the South West Coast Path offers breathtaking walks with stunning scenery. Surfers frequently stay at the hostel due to its proximity to the sandy surf beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde, and Saunton Sands. The hostel is also a short walk from the privately owned Tunnels Beaches, which is rich in Victorian history.
