Countryside Holiday!

Ilderton Dod Barns, located within Northumberland National Park, date back to the 1600s and are accessible by a private farm track, just over a mile long, suitable for most cars in various conditions. The barns offer modern connectivity with 4G mobile phone coverage. Guests can choose between The Barn or Cuckoo Cottage, both carefully restored from their original use as stables and a cow byre. The location offers panoramic views, guaranteed comfort, abundant wildlife, and peaceful surroundings, occasionally interrupted by the call of a cuckoo. Once guests arrive, they often find it hard to leave.

Situated within the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, the barns provide a retreat free from light pollution, ideal for star-gazing. On clear nights, there is even a chance to see the Northern Lights; the location is renowned for its exceptional darkness, as confirmed by a Sky Quality Meter reading. Binoculars are available for star viewing, along with a flask for hot drinks and outdoor seating, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the wonders of the night sky.

The Barn - Sleeps 1-6 + 4 in temporary beds

Originally cow byres and a hayloft, The Barn at Ilderton Dod has been transformed into a spacious retreat. The ground floor includes two large shower rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and an open-plan living and dining area with a TV and DVD player. Upstairs, a large bedroom accommodates up to eight guests, with one section featuring a king-sized bed and sofa bed, and another section with two single beds and a sturdy bunk. Wooden panelling allows for flexible space configuration. The Barn also offers two Z-beds, a wood-burning stove with background heating, a washing machine with a drying area, and outdoor facilities such as a barbecue area and seating. There is plenty of parking, along with lockable bike storage that includes electric charging facilities, workstations, tools, maps, and wash facilities. Families can request a travel cot, high chair, and fireguard, and up to three dogs are welcome in the downstairs area of The Barn.

Cuckoo Cottage - Sleeps 2 plus a child

Once serving as stables and kennels, Cuckoo Cottage is ideal for couples or small families. The first floor features a spacious king-sized bedroom with space for a Z bed or cot, while the ground floor includes a convenient shower room, a well-equipped kitchen, and an inviting open-plan living and dining area with a wood-burning stove and TV. The cottage provides essential amenities, including a washing machine, drying area, and dishwasher, with background heating throughout. Outside, guests can enjoy a barbecue area with outdoor seating and ample parking. Secure bike storage is also available, complete with electric charging facilities, a workstation, tools, maps, and wash facilities. Families can request a travel cot, highchair, and fireguard as needed, and the cottage welcomes up to two dogs on the ground floor.
