Get The Family Together!

Ebenezer Chapel is a split-level riverside stone chapel with beautiful river views, formed by the conversion of a large Methodist Chapel and Schoolroom originally built in 1846. Situated in the conservation area of the historic mill village of Milford, near Belper in Derbyshire, this unique property offers both character and modern comfort.

The impressive stone building has been thoughtfully converted into a spacious and charming holiday home, preserving much of the Chapel's original features, including exposed beams, original pews, marble plaques, chapel doors, and the old pulpit, which now adorns the lower lounge with a balcony. The Chapel also includes a private patio garden with ramp access, picnic tables, and a barbecue area. Additionally, guests can explore two acres of steep woodland, full of bluebells in spring, accessible via a steep path from the garden.

Ebenezer Chapel is ideal for large family gatherings, comfortably accommodating up to 20 guests. The Chapel boasts a 38ft beamed and galleried lounge, a Finnish sauna suite, a fully equipped kitchen, multiple bathrooms (some en suite), and an upper lounge with views overlooking the River Derwent. The two lower floors are designed to be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

The surrounding area offers various sports activities, including tennis, fishing, and bowls. Nearby, there are several riding and trekking stables, local golf courses, and opportunities for fishing and canoeing in the River Derwent. Belper's family sports centre is just two miles away. The village itself is known for its real ale pubs, with four within half a mile, including The King William Pub located right next door. Shops, restaurants, and a babysitting service (by arrangement) are also available. Parking is easy, with spaces at the Chapel gate and further down the lane.

The location is rich in heritage, with nearby attractions such as mills, canals, museums, and the Derwent Valley Visitor Centre. Popular tourist spots like the Crich Tramway Village Museum, Matlock Bath’s cable cars and Gulliver’s Kingdom, Alton Towers, and the limestone dales of the Peak District and Carsington Water are all within a short drive. Outdoor activities such as climbing, caving, gliding, and water sports are available within 20 miles of the property.

Pets are welcome by arrangement, with the first pet staying free of charge and a £20 fee for each additional pet per stay.
