Bookham Court Cottages are situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Dorchester, Dorset. Located on a 650-acre family farm, the cottages offer panoramic views over Thomas Hardy’s Blackmore Vale and are conveniently close to Dorchester, Sherborne, and the Jurassic Coast, as well as Dorset's stunning beaches.

Little Coombe

Completely refurbished in 2020, Little Coombe features an open-plan sitting/dining room and kitchen with a charming inglenook fireplace, wood burner, beams, and wooden floors. The cottage has two bedrooms that sleep four, each with an ensuite bathroom or shower room. Little Coombe is equipped with a Smart TV, free Wi-Fi, and offers stunning views of the garden and local wildlife. Outside, guests can enjoy an enclosed patio with decking and a private hot tub.

The Wagon House

This single-storey character cottage, originally the "Old Wagon House," sleeps four in two bedrooms. The spacious sitting room has a galleried ceiling exposing old beams and an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner. Wooden floors are warmed with underfloor heating for added comfort. The property also includes a wet room, a Smart TV, and free Wi-Fi. The Wagon House boasts spectacular views of the Dorset countryside from its patio, where guests can watch deer, lambs, and even a heron by the lake.

Great Coombe

Offering wonderful views over the Dorset countryside, Great Coombe features a spacious sitting room with French windows opening onto the patio, wooden floors, an inglenook fireplace, and a wood burner. A Smart TV and free Wi-Fi are also included. Ideal for disabled guests, the cottage has a downstairs twin bedroom and a disabled-access shower/wet room (M2), complete with grab rails, an emergency bell, and a shower stool. An additional pull-out bed is available for a ninth guest upon request.

Crowthorne Cottage

This beautifully furnished barn conversion combines old-world charm with modern conveniences. Crowthorne sleeps eight and includes a downstairs twin bedroom with a wet room. The cottage is separate from Bookham Court, but guests can still enjoy access to the shared games room and lake. A Smart TV, free Wi-Fi, and cots/highchairs on request are also provided.

The Hideaway Holiday Cottage

An eco-friendly, low-carbon retreat, The Hideaway was once part of the old Wildlife Hide at Bookham. Cedar-clad with a living sedum roof, it features solar panels, an air source heat pump, and an electric car charging point. The open-plan sitting/dining room has underfloor heating, bi-fold windows opening to the patio, and stunning countryside views. It has two bedrooms: a Super King bed with en-suite shower and panoramic views, and a twin or zip-link room with en-suite shower. Linen, towels, electricity, and Wi-Fi are included, and electric car charging is available for an additional fee.

Location & Amenities

The cottages are conveniently located near Dorchester and Sherborne, and just 20 miles from the traditional seaside town of Weymouth. The surrounding area offers a wealth of attractions including country gardens, wildlife, castles, abbeys, and picturesque hamlets. There are also many excellent dining options within a few miles of Bookham Court.

Disabled Facilities

Great Coombe and Crowthorne feature downstairs bedrooms and wet rooms that are suitable for disabled guests. The Wagon House is all on one level, with a smaller wet room for guests with limited mobility. For more information, guests can contact Nicola.
