These cottages are located on a traditional, working family farm, just a short walk from two stunning beaches, Howdiemont Bay and Sugar Sands.
Curlew Cottage - Sleeps 4
Curlew Cottage is a spacious, detached cottage designed with wheelchair accessibility in mind. The open-plan lounge, featuring a log-burning stove and comfortable seating, leads into a fully equipped kitchen that opens onto a natural stone patio. The cottage has two bright bedrooms: one with twin beds and the other with a king-sized bed. The large wet room includes underfloor heating, grab rails, and an optional shower chair. Outside, a tarmac drive and flagstone ramp ensure smooth access, with a path surrounding the cottage and a lawn area for outdoor enjoyment. A utility room provides extra storage space.
Whinney Cottage - Sleeps 4
Whinney Cottage is another accessible option, designed for wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility. The open-plan lounge, with a log-burning stove, comfortable seating, and a reclining chair, flows into a fully-fitted kitchen, with side-opening oven and patio doors leading to a natural stone patio. The two bedrooms include a twin room and an accessible room with a king-sized bed and fitted wardrobes. The large wet room features underfloor heating, grab rails, and an optional shower chair. A tarmac parking area extends to a low-threshold entrance, ensuring easy wheelchair access.
Howdiemont Cottage - Sleeps 4
Howdiemont Cottage is the most popular of the cottages, offering a bright and spacious layout with south-facing patio doors leading from the lounge into the garden. The lounge features an original fireplace with a log-burning stove, two armchairs, a sofa, and a dining area. The fully-fitted kitchen is conveniently located off the lounge. The cottage has two large bedrooms: one with a king-size bed and the other a twin room. The bathroom includes a shower, bath, wash basin, toilet, and heated towel rail. A tarmac parking area provides easy access to this single-level cottage.
Croft Cottage - Sleeps 5
Croft Cottage is a sunny and bright space with all rooms facing south. The generous entrance hall leads to the bedrooms and bathroom on one side and the lounge and kitchen on the other. The lounge features a log-burning stove set in an inglenook fireplace, a comfy sofa, two chairs, and an oak dining table. A few steps down leads to the fitted galley kitchen, which is fully equipped. The cottage has three bedrooms, sleeping five: a master with a king-size bed, a twin room, and a third bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom, accessible via two steps, includes a shower over the bath and a heated towel rail. Outside, the cottage has a private enclosed garden with seating and access to a shared log store.
Rose Cottage - Sleeps 5
Rose Cottage offers a traditional and cosy farm layout, with two bedrooms and the kitchen located off the good-sized lounge. The lounge features a charming inglenook fireplace, two sofas, and an extending oak dining table. The fitted kitchen includes everything guests need, along with a spacious pantry. The cottage has three comfortable bedrooms: a master with a king-size bed, a twin room, and another with a double bed. The bathroom includes a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, basin, and toilet. Outside, three steps lead into the cottage, which is all on one level inside.
The Area
Low Steads Holiday Cottages are ideally located for exploring Northumberland. With nearby beaches, historic castles, and charming coastal villages, guests can enjoy stunning views stretching from the coast to the Cheviots. A picturesque 10-15 minute walk from the cottages down a tarmac lane lined with hedges and traditional farm buildings leads to two beautiful beaches: Howdiemont Bay and Sugar Sands. The path is bordered by fields of wheat, barley, cattle, and sheep. Once at the coast, visitors can access the coastal path, which extends north to Howick, Craster, Embleton, and beyond, or south to Boulmer, Alnmouth, Warkworth, and further.

Disabled facilities are available by arrangement, and up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay free of charge.
