Stunning Sea Views!

Set within National Trust farmland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Short House offers a serene escape on a private estate with 200 metres of frontage onto Chesil Beach. Accessed via a picturesque drive framed by pampas grass and umbrella pines, this recently restored Purbeck stone barn provides the perfect retreat. A stroll across an untouched meadow, where horses graze peacefully, leads to the iconic Chesil Beach.

The cottage features a spacious, fully equipped kitchen, complete with a fridge/freezer, fan oven/grill, hob, extractor, double sink, and dishwasher. Cookware, cutlery, and essentials like olive oil, salt, tea, and coffee are provided. The kitchen table comfortably seats six but extends to accommodate eight. Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining and sitting room boasts high ceilings, oak floors, vibrant kilims, and dimmable lighting. Decorated with bold canvases, the room offers board games, books, and a 43" Sony Bravia UHD TV equipped with Sky Q, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and a DVD player. A Bose Dock sound system and Hive-controlled central heating add to the comfort.

The two double bedrooms offer stunning ocean views and luxurious king-size beds dressed in Egyptian cotton linens, feather and down pillows, and high-tog duvets. One bedroom can be converted to a twin upon request. Additional sleeping options include two inflatable John Lewis beds and a travel cot, available on request. The travertine-tiled bathrooms feature large tubs, with one offering an overhead shower and the other a sea view from the bath. Guests are provided with fluffy towels, beach towels, and thoughtful extras like buckets and spades.

Outdoors, a terrace with an 8-seater dining table, barbecue, reclining chairs, loungers, and beach chairs is enclosed by a secure box hedge, making it toddler-friendly. The estate’s low ambient light offers outstanding stargazing, while sunsets over the Devon coastline and Golden Cap provide a breathtaking backdrop. Ample parking is available directly outside the cottage.

Guests can explore scenic beachside and inland trails, with Wear’s Hill—a spot celebrated by Country Life Magazine for having England’s best natural view—just a 45-minute walk away. A private tennis court with rackets and balls is available, while nearby riding stables offer lessons. Chesil Beach is renowned for fishing and birdwatching, ensuring plenty of opportunities to connect with nature.

Short House has been featured in The Telegraph’s Top 20 Pet-Friendly Places to Stay and appeared in Gone Fishing, Series 7, Episode 8, showcasing its charm and appeal to a wide audience.
