Glansevin Mansion, Llangadog, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire

Glansevin Mansion is a remarkable residence nestled in the Towy Valley at the western foothills of Bannau Brycheiniog, once known as the Brecon Beacons National Park. This grand mansion, built during the Napoleonic war, is set in over 5 acres of private grounds and has entered its third century as a distinguished family home. Historically, from the 16th century until after World War II, it served as the seat of one of Wales' oldest surviving families, with noble Celtic and royal roots linked to Edward I and Tendwr Mawr (Tudor the Great). The mansion’s oldest section, known as the Tudor House, comprises bedroom 11 and the sitting room directly beneath it.

Upon entering Glansevin Mansion, visitors are greeted by an expansive hallway that leads to a large games room and a spacious, elegant drawing room, complete with an open coal fire and bar. Further along, three additional smaller reception rooms equipped with TV facilities and projector screens provide ample space for entertainment and relaxation. The main dining room, capable of seating 70-80 people, features a cozy inglenook fireplace, contributing to the mansion’s warm and inviting atmosphere.

The mansion offers a variety of sleeping accommodations with its 20 bedrooms that can host up to 42 guests. These range from large en-suite bedrooms to more modestly appointed rooms. For larger groups requiring additional space, the Carriage Rooms are available for rent from neighboring properties.

The extensive grounds of Glansevin Mansion are ideal for outdoor activities or relaxation in the sunshine, featuring an open-air unheated swimming pool and a sauna. Guests can step directly from the gardens into the surrounding countryside for immediate access to scenic walks or more adventurous excursions to nearby castles, waterfalls, rivers, and lakes nestled in the mountains.

For those interested in cultural outings, the area offers an array of attractions including fine eateries, art galleries, a deer park, and botanical gardens, all within a short drive from the mansion. A stay at Plas Glansevin is more than just a visit; it is an immersive experience into the best that Wales has to offer, combining historical grandeur with the natural beauty of its landscape.
