The Old Mountain Stables Holidays, Wyllie, Newport, Monmouthshire
The Stables, once a block of 16 horse stalls, have been thoughtfully converted into four unique, wheelchair-friendly holiday units, each named after one of the horses that once lived there: Dolly, Author, Tricycle, and Rosie. This conversion melds rustic charm with modern amenities, creating an inviting atmosphere for guests.
Each unit is equipped with underfloor heating and Wi-Fi, ensuring comfort throughout your stay. The spacious, fully fitted kitchens feature all essential appliances, including a hob, oven, dining table, and benches, perfect for family meals or a cozy dinner for two. The master bedroom in each unit boasts a handmade king-size bed with space for an additional child’s bed if needed. The living rooms are furnished with a double sofa bed, TV, sideboard, and coffee table, making them ideal for relaxing evenings indoors.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities, the options are plentiful. After a day of exploring the mountains, guests can relax in a wood-fired hot tub or gather around a fire pit for a barbecue under the stars. The old outdoor riding school has been transformed into a flat, communal lawn, perfect for outdoor games and activities. Fire pits are available for hire, complete with options for a BBQ and pizza oven, and additional wood is provided to ensure the ambience remains inviting.
A short walk from the accommodation is our local pub, The Church Inn, located next to Mynyddislwyn’s St. Tudor’s Church. The pub offers delicious home-cooked meals in a warm, friendly atmosphere, providing a perfect end to your day exploring the local area.
