The Sunnyfield is a charming, off-grid campsite nestled in an eight-acre meadow, welcoming tents, campervans, and glamping guests who appreciate a true connection with nature. Family-run and ecologically minded, the campsite embraces a "barefoot luxe" ethos, offering a balance of simplicity and comfort for those seeking a peaceful retreat. Located in a picturesque corner of the North Kent Downs, surrounded by rolling hills and hidden valleys, it provides the perfect setting for walkers, cyclists, and nature lovers, with scenic adventures right on the doorstep.
Proudly car-free, The Sunnyfield ensures a tranquil and safe environment for guests of all ages. On arrival, visitors park at the entrance, collect a wheelbarrow, and meander through wild grasses and buttercups to their spacious pitch. Each pitch includes a campfire, creating the perfect atmosphere for outdoor cooking, stargazing under the clear night sky, and soaking up the natural sounds of owls in the evening. Children can roam freely, and well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement.
The meadow features 26 pitches of varying sizes to accommodate different group needs. A limited number of glamping bell tents, guest tents, and campervans can be accommodated, depending on availability and group size. Larger groups are welcome to combine their own tents with the available bell tents and campervans, with pitches thoughtfully allocated in advance.
Facilities remain refreshingly simple yet well-maintained, including clean composting toilets, unique horse-box showers, and multiple standpipe taps and hand-wash stations with running and filtered water. The luxury 5-metre bell tents are furnished with comfortable beds, bed linen, cooking equipment, a gas stove, and a pioneer grill for campfire cooking—guests need only bring a toothbrush and towels.
Each glamping pitch is equipped with its own fire pit, allowing guests to cook beneath the stars, toast marshmallows, and unwind in the beauty of nature. With scenic trails, the North Downs, and historical sites nearby, it serves as an ideal base for a Kent glamping getaway. The site currently offers eight uniquely styled glamping tents, each set on its own generous pitch for privacy and relaxation, accommodating up to five guests (two adults and three children).
For campervan guests, The Sunnyfield provides the same back-to-basics charm, complete with campfires and clean facilities. Without hard standings or electric hook-ups, the fully off-grid setting adds to the natural experience. Campervans can be pitched alongside tents and bell tents, making group stays easy to arrange. Many visitors return year after year, drawn by the wildflower views, the peaceful atmosphere, and the welcoming community.
Mornings at The Sunnyfield begin with freshly ground coffee, and on most weekends, delicious wood-fired pizzas are available. Whether exploring the nearby North Downs Way and cycling routes or simply unwinding with local produce and a sunset, guests can enjoy a truly relaxing and memorable countryside escape.
Pets are welcome by arrangement at £3 per dog, per night—enquiries are encouraged.
