Narrowboat Holiday!
Andersen Boats offers an exceptional canal boat holiday experience, backed by over 40 years of family-run expertise. Based in Middlewich, Cheshire, the company provides narrowboat holidays along some of the finest canal routes in England and North Wales. From the moment guests embark on their journey, they can expect a truly unique experience, with high standards in boat design, comfort, and carefully selected routes for the perfect UK canal holiday.
Each boat in the Andersen Boats fleet is built in-house from scratch, starting with raw materials like sheets of metal and wood. This hands-on approach ensures that every boat is not only expertly crafted but also unique in design and functionality. With a reputation built on quality and guest satisfaction, every narrowboat is equipped with essential amenities, including a shower, fresh water flush toilet, refrigerator, cooker, and central heating. Boats with full 240V systems also feature microwaves. Additional conveniences include a stereo radio with CD player, a mobile phone socket (requiring a 12V car lead), and either a 240V socket rated at 150 watts or a full 1500+ watt system.
At no extra charge, guests receive an LCD TV with Freeview and DVD player, car parking, all fuel, a hairdryer, and full bedding, including duvets and pillows. For families, cot sides and child gates (for semi-traditional style boats) are available upon request, and buoyancy aids are provided for all, with compulsory use for children under 16. The fleet includes a variety of boat sizes, accommodating from two to ten guests.
Situated in Middlewich, Andersen Boats offers access to a wide selection of canal routes, catering to both those seeking peaceful rural cruises and those wishing to explore vibrant towns and cities. The Llangollen Canal remains a popular choice, with its dramatic landscapes, historic aqueducts, and the lively town of Llangollen. The Caldon Canal provides a scenic journey through the Potteries, while the route towards Chester offers a glimpse into Roman history, with the option to continue on to the fascinating Boat Museum at Ellesmere Port.
These routes are all designed as out-and-back journeys, allowing guests to travel at their own pace. For those looking for a greater challenge, circular routes such as the Cheshire Ring or the Four Counties Ring provide a more adventurous experience. Each canal has its own unique character, shaped by history and engineering, with surprises and delights at every turn.
Guests are encouraged to tailor their journey and explore further if time allows. With a range of guides and maps available, and a knowledgeable team always on hand to offer advice, Andersen Boats helps ensure a memorable and stress-free UK canal holiday.
Up to two dogs are welcome free of charge by arrangement, with an additional dog allowed for a £30 fee per stay. Guests are asked to advise at the time of booking.
