The Inn at Fossebridge, Fossebridge, Cirencester, Gloucestershire

Located on the banks of the River Coln, between Northleach and Cirencester, The Inn at Fossebridge has stood for over 300 years. A historic site steeped in tradition, it served as a critical 'watering hole' and stopover in an era dominated by horse-drawn carriage travel. Its strategic location meant that additional horses were often attached here to help pull carriages up the steep hill that lies just beyond.

Historically, the bar's fireplace is believed to have been a forge used for shoeing horses, a nod to the inn’s long-standing role in supporting travelers and their mounts. Today, the inn combines its rich history with modern hospitality under the direction of experienced hotelier Dee Ludlow and her partner Geoff Collins. They have introduced an exceptional casual dining concept within the walls of this character-filled Cotswold pub, which features stone walls, flagstone floors, and exposed beams.

The inn offers seven luxurious bedrooms in the main house, each uniquely sized and designed while being furnished with antique and period furniture, creating an ambiance of refined elegance that echoes through the ages. These rooms offer a perfect blend of comfort and historical charm.

Additionally, The Inn at Fossebridge features dining and meeting rooms that can be adapted for banquets, providing views through beautiful Georgian windows that overlook four acres of meticulously kept gardens and a picturesque lake. This setting is not only ideal for leisure but also for special events that seek a backdrop of natural beauty and historical significance.

Situated on the famous Fosse Way, the old Roman road now known as the A429, The Inn at Fossebridge lies in the heart of the Cotswolds. This central location makes it an excellent base for exploring the numerous attractions and quaint villages nearby, including Bourton on the Water, the Slaughters, Stow on the Wold, Bibury, Burford, and many others.

The Inn at Fossebridge thus serves as a gateway to the past and a haven for modern travelers seeking to explore the Cotswolds, offering a unique glimpse into the region's rich history alongside contemporary comforts and hospitality.
