Luxurious Countryside Retreats!
Byre and Stable – Luxury One-Bedroom Cottages at Applegarth House
Set within the grounds of Applegarth House, formerly the manse for Applegarth Church, Byre and Stable are two beautifully converted one-bedroom cottages, completed in 2024. Retaining the charm of their original stone exteriors, these former agricultural buildings have been thoughtfully transformed into luxurious countryside retreats that blend rustic character with modern comfort.
Stylish Interiors with Sustainable Design
Inside, both cottages feature high vaulted ceilings with white tongue-and-groove panelling, offering a light, airy atmosphere that complements the cosy feel created by underfloor heating throughout. Sustainability was central to the conversion: heating is supplied by an air source heat pump, and solar panels generate the property’s electricity.
The cottages are nearly identical in layout, with Byre offering slightly more floor space and a built-in wardrobe, while Stable includes a hanging rail. Both have a chest of drawers for storage. A step leads to a private west-facing paved terrace, perfect for enjoying the sunset. While a ramp can be provided on request, the layout is designed to be easily accessible for guests with limited mobility, including level access to the wet rooms.
Open-Plan Living with Modern Comforts
The open-plan living areas are bathed in natural light, thanks to glass-panelled front doors and Velux skylights with remote-controlled blinds. Each living space features:
A plush three-seater sofa bed suitable for children
A cane armchair
An extendable dining table for four
A 48-inch smart TV with soundbar
A Bluetooth speaker
The ambience is enhanced by a combination of ceiling spotlights, subtle wall lighting, and local artwork adorning the walls.
Well-Equipped Kitchens & Elegant Wet Rooms
Kitchens are fully equipped for a comfortable stay and include:
Fridge freezer
Split oven with microwave and ceramic hob
Slimline dishwasher
Condenser washer/dryer
Nespresso coffee machine with milk frother
Additional drying facilities, including a large dryer and line, are available in the garage.
A small vestibule off the living room leads to a stylish wet room, featuring:

Powerful rain shower
Heated towel rail with fluffy white towels

Luxurious Bedrooms & Outdoor Amenities
