Constable Park, Brantham, Suffolk

Constable Park in Brantham offers a distinctive glamping experience set in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, with far-reaching views across Dedham Vale and the RSPB Nature Reserve. Its riverside setting provides direct access to the River Stour, making it an excellent location for water-based activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding, both of which can be hired on-site. This combination of outdoor adventure and comfortable accommodation makes Constable Park an appealing choice for families, couples and groups looking for a balance of activity and relaxation.

Guests can choose from a variety of glamping options to suit their preferences. The site features both 5m and 6m bell tents. The smaller tents are set around a fire pit circle, while the larger riverside tents enjoy a scenic waterside location. Each tent includes a double bed and airbeds for children, with electric blankets provided for added comfort. Outdoor deckchairs invite guests to enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine, while barbecues with gas hobs are shared between two tents.

For those seeking a little more comfort, Constable Park also offers two upcycled cabins – Goose Cabin and Moorhen Cabin. Each cabin sleeps four and includes a lounge area, kitchenette with gas burners, fridge and crockery, as well as an en suite bathroom. Sleeping arrangements consist of a double bed alongside a pair of wide bunk pods, making the cabins ideal for families with young children. Outside, each has a private BBQ area for al fresco dining.

The Touareg Tent provides another family-friendly option, sleeping up to five people. Featuring a wood-burning stove, double bed and inflatable airbeds, it offers warmth and cosiness even during cooler evenings. Outside, the tent is equipped with deck chairs, a covered BBQ and a fire pit, while facilities such as toilets and showers are just a short walk away.

For a more rustic experience, the Bird Hide provides simple accommodation for four to five people. With no bedding or electricity provided, it is best suited to those who enjoy a back-to-basics stay, rewarded with uninterrupted views of the River Stour. The site also has space for non-electric camping pitches, offering flexibility for those who prefer traditional camping.

Beyond the accommodation, Constable Park has a Coffee House where visitors can enjoy brunch, lunch and speciality coffee while overlooking the river. The site’s location makes it a convenient base for exploring the wider Suffolk area, with cycling and walking routes nearby and the town of Manningtree offering a choice of pubs and restaurants.

Local attractions include Abbey Gardens, Kentwell Hall, Dunwich Heath and Beach (National Trust), Framlingham Castle and Sutton Hoo, providing a wealth of history, culture and natural beauty to explore.

Constable Park combines comfortable and varied glamping options with opportunities for outdoor adventure, all within a picturesque riverside setting. It offers a versatile and welcoming retreat for anyone seeking to enjoy the beauty and activities of the Suffolk countryside.
