Situated on a quiet lane in Cheddar village, the cottage enjoys uninterrupted views of the famous gorge. It sits opposite Gorge View House, where guests are welcome to explore the property’s working permaculture garden. Fully detached, Gorge View Cottage provides privacy and peace, making it ideal for solo travellers or couples seeking a restorative break.

The interior has been thoughtfully designed to create a welcoming atmosphere. On the ground floor, the triple-aspect living space features oak flooring, exposed stone walls and reclaimed wood furnishings. A wood-burning stove adds a cosy touch, while large windows allow natural light and views of the gorge and garden. Entertainment includes a Freeview LCD TV and DVD player. The fully fitted kitchenette comes with granite worktops, reclaimed pine units, a gas hob, oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster and kettle, alongside all the necessary kitchenware.

Upstairs, the bedroom offers spectacular views through casement and triple-glazed Velux windows. The king-sized bed, complete with a memory foam mattress and organic Egyptian cotton linen, ensures a restful night’s sleep. Underfloor heating beneath the oak floorboards provides warmth, while the shower room offers a spacious and modern finish with bright lighting and practical storage.

Outdoors, the west-facing patio, furnished with a table, chairs and potted plants, makes an ideal spot to enjoy the afternoon sun. Guests can also explore the larger organic garden, designed and maintained according to permaculture principles. An electric vehicle charger is available on-site free of charge.

The location offers easy access to a wealth of natural and cultural attractions. Walking and cycling routes extend across the Mendip Hills and Cheddar Gorge, while the village’s caves, shops, pubs and cafés are within walking distance. Further afield, Wells, Wookey Hole Caves, Glastonbury, Weston-Super-Mare and the Somerset Levels all lie within 15 miles. For longer day trips, the cities of Bristol, Bath and Exeter are within easy reach.
