Yew Tree Farm, Coniston, Cumbria
This Grade II Listed farmhouse is located in the peaceful Coniston Valley and dates back to the 17th century. Once owned by the renowned author and illustrator Beatrix Potter, it has been featured in numerous television programmes and photo shoots over the years. Inside, the house retains its original character, with period furniture and antique pieces, some of which belonged to Beatrix Potter herself. The panelled sitting room and opposite dining room both feature open fires and oak floors, creating a warm and homely atmosphere. A well-equipped kitchen at the rear of the property provides everything needed for a comfortable stay.
Upstairs, a period staircase leads to three beautifully appointed bedrooms. Each room features bespoke beds and period décor, offering a restful and elegant environment. Accommodation includes a four-poster double bedroom with an adjacent bathroom, a twin en suite, and a master bedroom with a king-size bed and en suite facilities.
Outside, guests can enjoy an enclosed garden and patio area complete with furniture and a barbecue, perfect for al fresco dining. A hot tub provides an added touch of relaxation after a day spent exploring the surrounding countryside.
Yew Tree Farm also offers the Herdwick Experience, giving guests the opportunity to take a private tour of the farm and learn more about traditional Lakeland farming practices. The onsite shop sells high-quality meat from the farm’s own butchery and fresh eggs from the resident hens, allowing visitors to sample a true taste of the farm.
The location is ideal for walkers, with a public footpath running around the perimeter of the farm fields. From here, guests can easily explore Coniston Water or venture into nearby towns and villages.
