Pardlestone Farm, Kilve, Bridgwater, Somerset

Pardlestone Farm is a hidden gem in Somerset offering both welcoming bed and breakfast accommodation and two well-appointed self-catering cottages. Set within the beautiful Quantock Hills, the farmhouse and cottages provide an excellent base for walkers, mountain bikers, nature lovers and horse riders looking to explore this inspiring and historic landscape.

The Quantock Hills famously inspired the Romantic poets Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth and are widely considered the birthplace of Romantic poetry. Designated in 1956 as England’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the area remains largely unspoilt. Visitors can enjoy abundant wildlife, deep valleys, ancient woodland, sparkling streams and heather-covered heathland, all within easy reach of the dramatic cliffs and fossil-rich beaches of Somerset’s Jurassic coastline.

Running just above Pardlestone Farm is the nationally significant Coleridge Way, a long-distance walking route which stretches to Lynmouth in North Devon and links with both the Two Moors Way and the South West Coast Path. For those who prefer a more relaxed way to take in the scenery, the West Somerset Steam Railway – the longest heritage railway in England – offers spectacular views across the Quantocks, out to sea and towards Exmoor.

Accommodation at the farmhouse includes two comfortable en suite double bedrooms. Caturn’s is the larger of the two, featuring a luxurious six-foot Hypnos bed which can be arranged as twins if required. Alfox Den offers a smaller but cosy and peaceful retreat. Adjoining the farmhouse is Groom’s Cottage, a self-catering property sleeping four guests in two double bedrooms. Just across the yard is the Pony Barn, newly converted in 2023, which features a vaulted ceiling, underfloor heating and stylish modern décor. All accommodation benefits from satellite Wi-Fi.

For guests travelling with horses, stabling and turnout are available on site, while dogs are welcome in the cottages. Larger groups of up to twelve guests can book both the farmhouse and the cottages together, allowing visitors to enjoy the space and flexibility of all three units while spending time together in this peaceful countryside setting.
