Criccieth is a town rich in both history and character, having been granted its borough charter in 1284. At its heart lies ‘Y Maes’, a historic green that once formed part of the medieval common land and now serves as a central meeting point where four main roads converge, leading to Caernarfon, Pwllheli, Porthmadog and the sea. Today, Criccieth offers a vibrant mix of attractions, independent shops, and places to eat, making it a popular destination for visitors seeking both heritage and coastal charm.
