Steeped in history without feeling like a museum, Cadhay has been thoughtfully restored to preserve its historic character while providing the comforts expected of a modern stay. At the heart of the estate is the magnificent 16th-century Manor House, complemented by three individual holiday cottages.
The Manor House accommodates up to 22 guests across 12 bedrooms, making it an excellent choice for large families and groups. The accommodation is arranged over three floors and includes an appealing mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings. Guests may find themselves sleeping in a traditional four-poster bed, a contemporary handcrafted version made by Cadhay’s furniture-maker owner, or one of the cosy attic bedrooms tucked beneath the eaves.
Throughout the house, central heating and wood-burning stoves help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The fully equipped kitchen includes an Aga and electric oven, providing everything needed for preparing meals during a self-catering stay.
When it is time for everyone to come together, the elegant Georgian dining room provides a memorable setting. With seating for up to 22 guests, there is plenty of room for everything from relaxed family dinners to celebratory meals.

The Coach House is the largest of the three cottages and sleeps up to six guests in three en-suite bedrooms. These comprise a twin, a double and a flexible bedroom which can be arranged as either a super king-size double or twin. Overlooking the main house and surrounding countryside, the cottage combines exposed wooden beams with quality antiques, colourful rugs, paintings and carefully chosen furnishings.
Also sleeping up to six guests, The Stables overlooks Cadhay House and opens from its kitchen into a walled garden used as community allotments. It has three bedrooms, including one twin and two flexible rooms which can be arranged as super king-size doubles or twins. One is en-suite, while guests also have access to a family bathroom and downstairs cloakroom.
Exposed beams, antiques, artwork and a wood-burning stove give The Stables plenty of character, while its well-proportioned kitchen and modern facilities make it practical for a comfortable self-catering break.
For couples, The Cider Press offers a spacious single-storey retreat with panoramic views towards East Hill and the surrounding countryside. Its bedroom can be arranged as either a double or twin, while the large lounge provides plenty of room to unwind beside the wood burner.
A well-equipped kitchen and dining area completes The Cider Press, providing everything needed for a peaceful stay in the Devon countryside.
