The site has just 10 well-spaced pitches, each with hardstanding and an electric hook-up. Caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents are welcome, while the small number of pitches helps to create a relaxed atmosphere. The site is also home to an abundance of birds and wildlife, adding to its peaceful rural setting.
Guests have access to a range of useful facilities, including a toilet block with a hot shower, shaver point, washing-up area, fresh water tap and waste water and chemical toilet disposal points. There are also dedicated dog and bike washing facilities, parking and free super-fast 5G Wi-Fi. Freesat boxes are available to hire from the owner.
Dogs are welcome at Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site, although they must be kept on a lead while on the site and walked offsite. With access straight into the Forest of Dean, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy longer walks together.
Cyclists are also well placed to explore the forest. Although cycle hire is not available at the campsite itself, Pedalabikeaway Cycle Centre is around four miles away and offers a variety of bikes for hire.
A small information hut contains leaflets about local places to visit and events, helping guests plan their time in the area. Beyond the Forest of Dean, Lydney and Coleford are only a short drive away, while the site is also conveniently located for exploring the Wye Valley and venturing across the nearby Welsh border.
