Lakemoor Devon Campsite in Chulmleigh offers camping, touring and glamping in the heart of Devon’s Taw Valley. Set within five acres of countryside, the site combines plenty of outdoor space with useful facilities and a choice of different ways to stay. Guests can also meet the friendly animals on the smallholding during their visit.
Camping pitches are located in a riverside meadow beside the River Taw, surrounded by trees and farmland. With a maximum of 15 pitches, there is plenty of room for guests to spread out and enjoy the setting. An undercover communal seating area provides BBQs and a firepit, while a walkway leads down to the river beach.
For tents, tourers and campervans, there are also five hardstanding pitches overlooking the smallholding. Each has an adjoining grass pitch and the option of electric hook-up.
Guests looking for something a little different can stay beside the fishing lake in one of Lakemoor’s unique glamping options. The Cabin and The Pyrapod are both pet friendly and sleep up to two people in a double bed. Facilities include a double gas burner, cool box, kettle, crockery, glasses, cutlery, kitchen utensils, USB charging points and a Hobbit log-burning stove.
Outside, guests have a decking area with seating and deckchairs, solar lighting and a firepit/BBQ. The Pyrapod also benefits from its own compost toilet.
The Ark is tucked beneath the trees at the edge of the lake and sleeps two in a double bed. It includes solar-powered lighting, USB points and a covered seating area with storage. An outdoor firepit provides a great spot for sitting outside and stargazing after dark.
Another option is The Lotus, which sits on a raised platform and enjoys views across the River Taw. Inside, there is a double bed and single futon bed, providing plenty of room to relax after a day exploring the Devon countryside.
Facilities across the site include one flushing toilet, three compost toilets, two hot showers, hand basins and a washing-up area. Certified drinking water and grey water disposal facilities are also available.
Lakemoor also has a small honesty shop where guests can purchase logs, charcoal, snacks, cans, fresh eggs from the resident hens and local cider. Firepits are available to hire, while a communal fridge and freezer provide additional storage for food and drinks.
