Stable Cottage is a cosy option for two, featuring an open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen area, a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the lawned garden. Guests can also make use of the large garden and outdoor furniture when the weather is fine.
Sleeping up to four guests, Blacksmith Cottage has a double and twin bedroom along with a well-appointed bathroom. Its open-plan living, kitchen and dining area provides a comfortable space to spend time together, while outside there is access to the shared garden, garden furniture and a BBQ.
Woodmans Cottage is the largest of the three cottages, accommodating up to six people across a double and two twin bedrooms. One of its standout features is the spacious open-plan living area, where a huge window frames magnificent views towards the Lake District fells. The cottage also has two bathrooms, while an Egyptian crystal chandelier adds an unexpected touch of character.
For something a little different, Thornthwaite Farm also has two individually hand-crafted cabins. Larch Log Cabin sleeps two and looks towards the woodland fell. Inside is an open-plan lounge and kitchen, double bedroom and modern bathroom, while its outdoor area has furniture and a BBQ for enjoying the countryside setting.
The Cosy Glamping Cabin offers an especially quirky retreat for two. Its double bed is reached through a delightful hobbit-hole entrance, while a log-burning fire with an integrated oven provides warmth on cooler evenings. There is also a compact kitchen and dining area, with bathroom facilities accessed from the outside veranda.
The surrounding landscape is another highlight of a stay at Thornthwaite Farm. Guests have 150 acres of woodland to discover, alongside ancient woods, streams, rivers, rocky outcrops and lowland flower meadows. The varied habitats also provide a home for plenty of local wildlife.
With excellent walking and cycling opportunities nearby and the wider Lake District waiting to be explored, guests can spend their days enjoying the outdoors before returning to the peace of the farm.
